Direct continuation of the first part, with occasional setbacks of unnecessary melodrama and heroic pathos, but also with great fight scenes and interesting story. Good effort, that overall can be called satisfying watching experience.

Overlooked movie that received one of the worst publicity campaigns before its release, which led to a box office flop and jeopardized the making of a sequel.
Based on a book, this movie is really recommended for all Adventure/Fantasy genre lovers. Interesting story is mixed with a touch of philosophy, some social comments and insights, a big mystery, great art design, very decent acting and suspenseful plot. All that makes City of Ember very entertaining and even thought provoking.
Despite some plot holes and small ridiculous things, the movie is definitely memorable and stays in mind.

Red Cliff: Part I, China (2008)
Surprisingly enjoyable film with interesting story, emotionally involving characters and great fighting scenes. takes some time to enter the movie and understand who against who, but after 30 minutes the film finally catches the attention and doesn't let go.
Of course the film still suffers from silly melodrama and too much sentimental pathos with no traces of cynicism, but experienced director John Woo deals with it quite honorably, not exceeding these embarrassing moments beyond their bearable limits. Great cinematography and camera work, this is a very big effort and you can see every drop of sweat invested in it on the screen. Together with part 2, it is very satisfying watching experience.

Romantic and heroic fairytale of epic proportions with heavy usage of CGI. Everything in this movie is very simple - the good is too good, the bad is very bad, the revenge is the greatest revenge ever, the love story is the biggest love story ever. No complexity, no cynicism, no realism.
Based on some fantasy book, this movie takes itself way too serious, and the result - two exhausting hours of pointless, but grandiose production. Only for people that like this kind of stuff.

This movie is on intellectual level of 10 years old children. Nevertheless, this mindless and infantile fantasy adventure is pretty watchable and occasionally quite enjoyable. There is even a brief nudity in one strange scene that has nothing to do with the actual plot, but still nice.

Fantastic movie! Big adventure in the fantasy land mainly for kids, but not only. The intellectual value in this cult classic is much higher than in typical Dysney production, it is very easy to see and appreciate the creative imagination and the intelligent complexity of the plot.
This movie is a real gem that is not getting outdated at all, and remains fresh and smart even after multiple viewings. The story not falls far behind Alice in Wonderland, and that's saying a lot.
